appointment of RESEARCH FELLOW/ASSOCIATE IN THE PARC FUNDED RESEARCH PROJECT “Climate Change Implications for Water Management and Adaptation Strategies (Component III- Sindh Agriculture University”



Applications are invited for the post of Research Fellow in the PARC funded project entitled “Climate Change Implications for Water Management and Adaptation Strategies (Component III- Sindh Agriculture University)” initially for a period of one year and extendable till the completion period of the project. However, extension is subject to satisfactory performance while working in the project. The candidates possessing B.E. or M.E. degree with specialization in Irrigation and Drainage or Water Management are eligible to apply. The candidates registered in a M.E./Ph.D. program in Irrigation and Drainage will be given preference. The selected candidate will be paid a fixed Financial Assistance/honorarium as per his/her qualification and as per PARC policy.

The responsibilities include field trial of major crops (wheat, rice, cotton, sugar cane) for crop water simulation modeling; Literature review about work done on climate change in the world; Collection of various data sets (meteorological, hydrology, irrigation, soil, socio-economic etc. from concerned departments; Time series data of climate to be segregated on monthly, seasonal, annual and normal basis; Analysis of climate variability of parameters like temperatures (max & min) and precipitation etc.; Hydrological characterization and delineation of drainage network; Infrastructures, land use layers to be carried out using thematic maps and image data in GIS; Canal command characterization and parameter analysis, selection, calibration and validation of irrigation model; Assessing the impact of climate change on evapo-transpiration and irrigation water requirement and estimation of irrigation water requirement under future climate change scenarios. The candidates with any previous experience in modelling along with computer skills in data processing and statistical analysis, will be given due consideration in the selection process.

Incomplete applications will not be entertained. Interviews will be held on 04-05-2015, at 10.00 am in the office of PI/Dean Faculty of Agricultural Engineering. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
