Introduction
The main goal of the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
(D.V.M.) is to train students in order to understand the animal diseases
in terms of their etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention
and control. All the preclinical subjects lay foundation for the proper
learning of applied sciences, of which, Veterinary medicine is the most
important discipline. This is because, in the prevailing conditions of
our country, a qualified veterinarian, in his practical life, deals mostly
with the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of animal diseases.
Thus in practice at least 90 percent (if not entirely) of the total Veterinary
practice depends upon thorough knowledge and practical training of veterinary
medicine. Thus practical teaching of Veterinary medicine is the ultimate
mission/goal of the entire D.V.M. Degree program.
