Introduction
The Department of Plant Protection was established in
1977 at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam. It is one of the most
important disciplines of agriculture and combines various aspects of Entomology,
Plant Pathology, and Weed Sciences, vertebrate pests acrines into a single,
integrated program for students who are interested in learning how to
manage factors that limit Crop production. The most important applied
subjects being taught Plant Protection include Ecology, Biology, and management
(chemical/biological) of arthropod pests, crop diseases, plant nematodes,
weeds and vertebrate pests. Specialization in Plant Protection provides
the ideal training for students interested in an integrated pest management
(IPM) program. In addition, to practical training in plant Protection,
each student is expected to develop a working knowledge of ecology and
expertise in the production of a particular crop or groups of crops.
