History

Horticulture is one of the most important fields of agriculture. The production and returns from horticultural crops are high as compared to other crops. These crops possess export potential to earn foreign exchange. Apart from this horticultural crops play an important role in fulfilling nutritional requirement for human health. Many agro industries in the country are based on the processing of various commodities from these crops. The Department of Horticulture is offering, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree program to meet human resource needs in the province. Apart from this the department is also imparting trainings in the various aspects of horticulture. Research on different problems faced by the farming communities are also being carried out through post-graduate students and teaching staff. A program to provide quality fruits, vegetables and flowers with true to type varieties is also going on. Seed production program of flowers and vegetables has also been initiated at the department.
