The Department of Farm Power and Machinery
was established in 1977 as one of
the major departments in the Faculty
to cater the manpower needs of Sindh
and Balochistan. It offers graduate
and postgraduate programs since its
inception. In the beginning, it used
to offer M.Sc. (Hons) in Farm Machinery
and Mechanization to the graduates
of B.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering.
Later it switched to offer M.E, M.Phil
and PhD degree programs to B.E (Agri.)
in Agricultural Engineering The department
has well qualified faculty. It has
modern and well equipped laboratories
and workshop consisting of machine
shop, foundry shop, stock of all modern
implements, heavy and light machines
and research equipments for students
and staff. It has experimental area
for research and demonstration for
farmers and stake holders. Besides
teaching and research, it provides
advisory services to farmers and offers
short trainings on various aspects
of farm mechanization and machinery
as to increase crop production.
