Mission Statement

 

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences was established in 1971. This faculty is pioneer in starting an independent department of Dairy Technology where courses are offered to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
However, with the financial assistance of Higher Education Commission establishing this department was renamed as Department of Animal product Technologies in the year 2006. The main objective of the establishment of this department is to implement education, research and outreach programs designed to foster knowledge and understanding of the composition, processing, quality and safety of foods of animal origin to ensure a wholesome, high quality and sustainable food supply to the increasing population of the country. Animal Product Technologies is the study of dairy and meat products and byproducts in relation to their utilization and safety through use of the biological, chemical and physical sciences. The Faculty has expertise in these fields and conduct research on the processing, quality and safety of foods, apply the resulting knowledge in education and training of students and provide technical information and assistance to the dairy and meat industry in general and consumers in particular. The department endeavor to achieve excellence in all these activities in order to produce meaningful outcomes in terms of trained manpower. Moreover to achieve this the department offers courses at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level and awards degrees of M.Sc.(Hons.) and Ph.D.
