Project Coordinator

Budget Research Cell, SAU is seeking an innovative and delivery focused Project Coordinator initially for the project period of 9 months on contract basis and is likely to be continued for longer period subject to performance of the candidate. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the operational plan of the project. S/he will conduct budget research focusing water and sanitation allocations and spending at provincial and district levels. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for developing Budget Primer to help in educating government officials, policy makers, community organizations and the communities to understand the budgetary processes and to ensure optimal allocation and efficient utilization of budget at provincial and district level.

 The project coordinator will report to Project Focal Point and supervise two research assistants.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Masters in Social Sciences preferably Economics or an MBA with minimum of 3 years experience in development sector with focus on public finance and research

This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, the ability to conduct field survey, to collect and analyze primary as well as secondary data and ability to write good reports, briefs, position papers etc. The further requirements are as under;

  • Strong organizational and managerial skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct field surveys using various tools including personal interviews, workshops, group meetings/ telephone interviews and reviews to collect data
  •    Demonstrated ability to write concise, analytical and well-argued reports;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations professionally;
  • Good IT skills with strong ability to use MS Word and Spreadsheets;
  •   Fluency in English and ability to communicate in local languages preferably in Sindhi;
  • Ready to travel for the data collection for different parts of Sindh using economical mode of transport.

Research Assistants


(2 posts with fixed pay of Rs. 7000 per month)

 

 

 

 

The Research Assistant will assist the Project Coordinator and other senior staff in budget research. The Research Assistant will collect field data, perform data entry, produce secondary tables and prepare preliminary reports. The RA may be assigned an additional office and field job by the Project Coordinator. The research assistant will be initially appointed for 9 months extendable for longer period subject to persons’ performance and ability.

 

 

 

 

4 years’ Bachelors or Masters degree in Economics/ Agricultural Economics preferably one year experience in field data collection through surveys

 

 

 

 

Demonstrable enumeration skills. Knowledge of basic pre-requisites of surveys and field data collection. Good computer operating skills especially in word processing and data spread sheets are essential. Interpersonal skills in English and Sindhi languages are desirable.
